Carbondale police investigate gun-involved suspect

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Police investigated a suspect with a gun on Saturday morning. 

The Carbondale Police Department sent an alert to residents at 6:51 a.m. on Saturday, July 6. The alert said a male with a gun was in the area around Rawlings and Freeman. 

At 7:12 a.m., police sent a follow-up alert that said officers were no longer in the area. 

"There is no known threat to the public," read the alert. 

It is unclear at this time the details surrounding this situation. News 3 will provide updates should they become available.
