...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON CDT /1 PM EDT/ TODAY TO
7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values 100 to 108 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ today to 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Driver dead in Williamson County crash

FATAL CAR CRASH

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- A driver died in a crash involving a garbage truck on Saturday morning. 

The crash occurred around 11:53 on Saturday, July 6, by the intersection of IL State Route 149 and Lockeyville Road in Hurst. 

According to information from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, investigators believe a garbage truck driving south on Route 149 lost control and crashed with an SUV driving north. 

Officials say the driver of the SUV was declared dead on the scene. 

The Illinois State Police's Commercial Vehicle Officer and Accident Reconstruction department are assisting with the investigation. Hurst EMS, Hurst Fire, United Ambulance, Carterville Fire and Williamson County Fire also provided aid on the scene.
