GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. -- The Graves County Sheriff's Office arrested one Thursday after a lengthy car chase Wednesday throughout Graves County.Â
Jason Avery, 40, of Lowes was taken into custody on Thursday morning on the charges of Reckless Driving, Fleeing / Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Operating on a DUI Suspended License, Criminal Mischief and several traffic violations.Â
The car chase took place Wednesday night after police stopped a black 2013 Jeep for routine traffic violations. The stop took place on KY-131 near KY-1684. Avery fled along KY-1864 to Vastine Green Road and then to Hopewell Road, KY-408 and McCracken County Road.Â
Upon reaching Cody Lane from McCracken County Road, the police were able to trap the Jeep. However, the vehicle fled into a cornfield. Police were unable to follow the Jeep into the field because of the terrain.Â
The police eventually found Avery's Jeep in the back of the field with the engine still on but no Avery. Police deduced Avery had run into the nearby woods. He was not found until Thursday morning at KY 849 close to McNeil Lane.Â
Avery was sent to the Graves County RC Center before being transferred to a neighboring county's jail. He was previously out on bond at the time of arrest for Strangulation 1st Degree, Assault 4th Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment and Being a Persistent Felony Offender.
