...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Peak heat index values up to near 105.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may cause
heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

IDOT sets onramp closure along I-57 northbound

WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. -- An I-57 northbound onramp will close for construction on Monday. 

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the entrance ramp at IL 149, or exit 65, in West Frankfort is scheduled for a five-day closure starting on Monday, August 5. 

Crews will use this time to bring roundabouts to the IL 149/I-57 intersections. Lighting and drainage work will also be done. This is part of a $6.3 million project that will improve bridges and safety measures, plus a pedestrian and bike path. 

IDOT says the upcoming work zone will see a number of detours and conditions. Drivers are urged to use extra caution in this time.
