SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- The Illinois Society of Fire Service Instructors is asking students throughout the state to submit their favorite teacher the Instructor of the Year award.

The award will go to a teacher who pushes for education, training and leadership. Submissions are only open through Friday, Aug. 9.

"Please share with us an instructor that possesses great skills in communication, listening, collaboration, adaptability, empathy and patience," said the society on the submission page.

The group hopes the teacher will also possess an engaging classroom presence; focus on new ideas and concepts; push for diversity, equality and inclusion; and be passionate about lifelong learning.
