JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Local law agencies are recognizing their officials as National Police Appreciation Week begins.Â
The week lasts from May 12-18 to acknowledge the hard realities law officials face throughout America.Â
"As this week goes by, we would like to take a moment to recognize and remember those law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice," wrote the Graves County Sheriff's Office. "We never want to forget the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives in the protection of others."
The Jefferson County Sherriff's Office also noted the celebration and its sheriff and staff.Â
More recognitions are sure to come throughout the week.Â
