WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Officers arrested a man after a strop for invalid registration turned into a K9-invovled drug check.
Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office noticed a car driving West on Madison Street near 23rd Street in Herrin on June 20. The car stood out to them for its lack of a valid registration sticker.
The deputies stopped the car and eventually identified the driver as Kenneth L. Johnson. During this process, the Herrin Police Department brought a K9 officer to the scene. The K9 sniffed around and alerted the deputies to the smell of narcotics.
The deputies then searched Johnson's car and say they found Methamphetamine, Drug Paraphernalia and a Digital Scale with Meth residue.
According to the sheriff's office, Johnson received citations for the following:
- Methamphetamine Possession
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Expire Registration
Authorities took Johnson into custody at the Williamson County Jail.
