January 6 committee releases final report, says Trump should be barred from office

MCLEANSBORO, Ill. -- Two Illinois men were arrested Wednesday for crimes related to the riot of the U.S. capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Justin LaGesse, 37, and Theodore Middendorf, 36, are originally from McLeansboro. The two men were issued charges of felony and misdemeanor upon this arrest.

The charges came as a result of the pair's alleged actions during the capitol riot. A press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office said the actions resulted in the destruction of the property and that the pair remained in the restricted government building in a violent mood.

LaGesse and Middendorf were said to have broken a window to enter the capitol. The release says the pair continued through the capitol into the House of Representatives side.

The release also confirmed the pair were arrested by the FBI locally. They will appear in court in the Southern District of Illinois.

Officials state the pair caused over $41,000 in damages to the capitol.

The investigation is ongoing via the FBI's Springfield and Washington offices. The pair is innocent until proven guilty. This is just one of over 1,200 arrests made in connection to the capitol riot.Â
