CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A house fire is being investigated after crews respond to a home fully engulfed in flames Wednesday night.

Carbondale Assistant Fire Chief Mike Rishel said it happened just before 10 p.m. on January 17. Fire crews rushed to the scene to find the home fully engulfed when they got there.

This was in the 500-block of N. Michaels Street, near Sycamore. Rishel said the home was vacant and nobody was injured from the fire.

Fire crews immediately started spraying the home down with water and knocked the flames down to where the fire couldn't spread.
