Officials estimate three-week closure to US 51 from sinkhole

JACKSON COUNTY -- According to the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency, the sinkhole-caused closure on US 51 will last for three weeks. 

The agency cited "ground failure" as the reason for the closure. 

The closure affects all lanes on US 51 north of DeSoto. Officials suggest drivers detour via Highway 14 to Highway 184 to Highway 149.
