Portageville police arrest man for alleged vehicle attack

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Police arrested a man on Saturday for an alleged vehicle attack on another man. 

Chief Ronnie Adams with the Portageville Police Department said officers arrived on the scene at the 400 block of Delisle Avenue around 5:58 p.m. According to the Chief, the investigation was for an attempted assault. 

Officers on the scene reportedly spoke with a 47-year-old man who said a man tried to run him over with his car. The man identified the suspect as Leonard Jay Boyd, 36. The victim says Boyd also threatened violence. 

Portageville Police say they found Boyd at a home on East State Highway 162 in New Madrid County. Officers took Boyd into custody and placed him in the New Madrid County Sheriff's Office. Police say he is held on a warrant for Harassment. 

The New Madrid County Sheriff's Office also helped with the investigation.
