SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- House Minority Leader Crystal Quade hopes to bring better childcare to Missouri.Â
Quade announced a plan on Thursday that would provide universal childcare to families, taking the cost off families with children.Â
Quade's plan features three main goals:Â
- Create universal access to pre-k
- Develop tax credits for families paying for child care from ages 0 to 3
- Expand access to caregiving tax credits for the elderly and people with disabilitiesÂ
“Too many Missouri families, in every corner of our state, struggle with the cost of caring for young children and aging family members," said Quade in a release on Thursday. "These tax credits will put money back into the pockets of hard-working Missourians and provide the opportunity for all children to attend pre-K, which has proven critical in reducing the achievement gap."
The plan is Quade's latest proposal. It comes after her recent promise to put abortion and reproductive rights up for a vote in Missouri and her goal to get rid of the grocery tax.Â
