MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- Officials are investigating a school bus vs vehicle crash which occurred Monday afternoon in Jackson County.
It happened along Highway 127 south of Murphysboro near Hoffman Road at 1:29 p.m.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said no students were on the bus when the accident took place.
The roadway was closed for an extended period of time as crews worked the scene.
The sheriff's office said two vehicles were involved which include a school bus and a green minivan.
The minivan hit the school bus, nearly head on, while traveling in opposite directions, a preliminary investigation revealed by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
Both drivers were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
