JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. -- A senior woman was brought to the hospital on June 6 after a crash involving two cars.Â
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 9:38 p.m. on the 6th. The wreck occurred at the intersection of Highway 4 and Inman Road in Ava.Â
According to the sheriff's office, deputies found evidence at the scene they used to develop the following estimation of the crash's events.
Officials believe Joy Kiehna, 71, of Steeville, drove a silver 2023 Ford Explorer to the stop sign on Inman Road. When Kiehna pulled away from the stop, she allegedly intersected into the path of Tyler Fowlkes, 18, of Pinckneyville, who drove a 2019 GMC Pickup truck.Â
Officials brought Kiehna to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Officials say Fowlkes and his passengers did not suffer any injuries.Â
Each of the vehicles required towing away from the scene.Â
