CARBONDALE, Ill. -- SIU in Carbondale received national recognition for its ability to incorporate transfer students.Â
SIU is but one of 228 public and private higher education programs featured in the published by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. The list recognizes programs that support nontraditional pathways through school for transfer students.Â
This is the second year in a row that SIU Carbondale has made the list. Â
“Two years in a row is a great accomplishment,â€ said Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management Wendell Williams. He went on to highlight the college's passion for student success and engagement; the school looks to eliminate barriers and save money for students.Â
The Honor Roll measures factors such as cost, financial aid offerings, campus life, admission processes and completion rates.Â
Saluki Step Ahead is an agreement between SIU Carbondale and the Illinois Community College Board.
The recognition aligns with SIU's transfer program, Saluki Step Ahead. The Step Ahead program helps bring the college's services to 49 community colleges in Illinois and beyond.Â
“As the transfer landscape begins to change, SIU Carbondale remains committed to staying on the forefront of innovation in this field, said Associate Director for Transfer Relations Josi Rawls. "The immediate success of Saluki Step Ahead proves SIU and our degrees are highly sought after, as long as we can meet the students where they are."
