Three fires break out across Southeastern Missouri in 24 hours

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Three fires hit the southeastern Missouri region in a 24 hour period between Saturday and Sunday.

In the morning hours on Saturday, multiple crews responded to a home on fire in Sikeston.ÌýFirefighters battled the fire, spraying water on the house and an outbuilding.

The Scott County Rural Fire Protection District said because of the extreme heat and other conditions, additional area fire crews came out to help assist.ÌýPhotos on the scene show extreme damage to the home from the fire.

Crews were on scene for this fire through the afternoon hours.

Morehouse fire

Hours later, another fire broke out overnight. some of those same fire crews were alerted to this fire in Morehouse.

Additional fire crews responded to help with the flames there after upgrading the fire to a second alarm. The Scott County Rural Fire Chief tells us the home was fully involved with flames at one point.

Crews were on scene for this fire for three hours. No word was given as to if anyone was injured.

Kennett Fire

Finally, during the early morning hours on Sunday in Kennett, fire crews responded to what is now being investigated as a suspicious fire.

Fire crews say when they got to the scene around 6:02 a.m., smoke was coming from the attic area. Crews also determined this was a vacant home.

Firefighters entered the home and quickly put out the fire, with little damage to the structure.

The Kennett Fire Department said they believe this fire was intentionally set. They ask anyone with information to call the fire station atÌý573-888-4622.
