Two arrested after domestic disturbance in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Two people were taken to jail after officers respond to a domestic disturbance where a gun was fired.

Carbondale police officers went out to the 300-block of North Oakland Avenue on October 21 at 5:40 a.m., for a gunshot report. Once the officers got there, they found out a gun was fired outside of a home during a domestic disturbance.

Kenneth Vann

Police investigated and arrested Shirley A. Monroe, 29 of Carbondale. Monroe faces a charge of reckless discharge of a firearm.

They also arrested Kenneth W. Vann, 41 of Carbondale. Vann faces a charge of domestic battery.

Both Monroe and Vann were taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

Monroe is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on November 14, at 1:15 p.m. at the Jackson County Courthouse.

Vann has an arraignment scheduled on November 8, at 8:30 a.m. at the Jackson County Courthouse.
