UNION CITY, Tenn. -- An investigation continues after two people died in a plane crash near Union City, Tennessee, Wednesday morning.
This happened a half-mile west of the Everett-Stewart Regional Airport at around 10:40 a.m.
The Obion County Sheriff's Office said two passengers in the plane were declared dead on scene after the crash occurred.
The sheriff's office said the plane was practicing aerobatic maneuvers when it nose-dived into a solar farm near the airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating this incident. They told News 3 the plane was a Xtremeair XA-42 with two people on board.
The NTSB said the plane crashed for an undetermined reason during the aerobatic instructional flight.
The Federal Aviation Administration echoed the information from the NTSB.
The Everett-Stewart Regional Airport Manager Don Coady said the two on board were not local.
"We would like to express our condolences to the families and friends to the two lives lost today," Coady said.
A representative with the NTSB said an investigator was sent to the location on Thursday morning to document the scene and examine the aircraft.Â
As part of the investigation, the NTSB looks at the pilot, the aircraft and the operating equipment and record information such as flight track data, aircraft maintenance records, weather conditions at the time of the incident and more.
The aircraft will then be taken to a secure facility for further evaluation.
Union City is in Obion County, Tennessee, in the northwest portion of the state and borders Kentucky.
