According to public health officials, the virus is transmitted through mosquito bites from those insects who have eaten off a dead bird. The department said one in five people who contract the virus will experience symptoms including fever, nausea, headaches or body aches. In some situations, officials warn more serious complications or death are possible.Ìý
Health professionals suggest reducing outdoor time during peak mosquito presence, using repellant when unable to avoid the outdoors and reporting areas where mosquitos may build to reduce the risk of contracting the virus.Ìý
