Williamson County man sentenced for pulling knife on deputies

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- A man received a sentence on Wednesday for pulling a knife on deputies in November. 

Brent R. Peddicord took his plea on Wednesday, just over two months since the Nov. 2023 crime. Legal officials worked out the plea to send Peddicord to the Illinois Department of Corrections for five years.

    Police originally charged Peddicord with Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, which is a class 2 felony. This came after he tried to avoid arrest by using a knife on police. 

    “Law enforcement should not have to worry about being attacked for doing their job," said Ted Hampson, Williamson County State's Attorney. "In Williamson County, criminals who seek to harm officers will be held accountable�.
