FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- Think you can eat a whole pizza? Now's your chance to prove it. 

in Murphysboro is giving out $250 to the duo who can devour two cheese pizzas the fastest. 

The business is hosting the "Blackout Pizza Challenge" as part of Monday's Total Solar Eclipse festivities. Martel's is accepting two-member team sign-ups now and will hold the challenge at the Du Quoin Fairgrounds on Monday. 

Prizes will be awarded to the teams who place with the fastest three times. Third place receives $50; second will get $100; and first place gets the coveted $250 PLUS a custom championship belt. 

Each team that shows up receives a $10 gift card to Martel's.
