WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Communities in Williamson County and surrounding areas continue to recover from the tornadoes that struck on May 16. Residents, businesses, and nonprofits can now apply for federal disaster relief.
This assistance is in the form of low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Williamson County officials say this is the only federal relief program available for this specific disaster.
SBA officials said residents with damaged or destroyed properties can visit their outreach center in Marion located at 500 North Holland Street.
"It's a major help in the communities when you have lost physical damages, property damages. It has helped to rebuild and recoup those losses," said Tatorie Marion, SBA Public Affairs Specialist.
Customer service representatives are on site to assist with applications, which can also be submitted online at . The outreach center in Marion will close on July 3, but applications are accepted until August 18.
