WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Illinois Department of Transportation wants to make drivers aware of an upcoming exit closure in West Frankfort. According to a release from IDOT, the northbound Interstate 57 exit ramp at Illinois 149 (exit 65) will be closed starting September 23, 2024. The closure is set to last approximately 5 days, weather permitting.
An additional closure will take place on Monday, October 7, 2024. This closure includes the southbound I-57 entrance ramp at Illinois 149 (exit 65), which will also be closed for approximately 5 days.
According to IDOT, the closures are necessary for the continued road construction taking place in and around the interstate in West Frankfort. The construction in that area consists of two modern roundabouts, new lighting and drainage.
