...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values of 100 to 107.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

2024 Future Lion Basketball camp continues to show programs potential

CARTERVILLE, IL (WSIL) - Summer camp season continues here in the viewing area.

The News 3 cameras were at the Carterville High School camp on Tuesday. 

Future Lion Summer Basketball Camp

It was day two of a four-day Future Lion basketball camp, and the idea of becoming a Lion either started or continued Tuesday for many players in our area.

"It's really fun to teach them and show skills that I can offer them," said Counselor Drew Barrington. "Teaching is one of my favorite things when it comes to basketball, so it's really fun showing them what to do and what it's like to be a Carterville Lion."

The camp ends on Thursday. The numbers were quite good as over 100 campers were on the court on Tuesday.
