BENTON, IL (WSIL) - Benton basketball star Docker Tedeschi is one of the top high school players in the area.
Benton's Docker Tedeschi lands verbal commit from SIUE Cougars
Tedeschi was in contention to win Illinois Mr. Basketball after an amazing season. Now, the Junior forward has caught the eye of SIU-Edwardsville.
The Cougars have made him a verbal offer to play for them after high school.
At 6'8, Tedeschi's massive frame allowed him to earn the nickname 'Docker the Blocker.' He averaged seven blocks per game as a junior. He also helped the Running Rangers reach their first-ever state championship game just last month.
The AP First Team's All-State Player was the Rangers' leading scorer this season with 15 and a half points per game and seven rebounds.
The Benton standout's offers should continue to roll in; the one from the Cougars is a big first step.
So how is Tedeschi hoping to improve?
"I want to become a better ball handler and get a little stronger to be able to be more physically dominant. I really want my skills to be able to translate to the next level. If I can improve those I think I can be more complete," Tedeschi said.
Docker is spending his offseason at AUU tournaments. He is optimistic the Rangers can again make a nice playoff run next season.Â
