Carterville Softball advances to state championship game with win over North Boone

PEORIA, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Carterville Softball team is back in the in the Class 2A Softball State Championship game after defeating North Boone in the State Semifinals on Friday.

Carterville defeated North Boone 5-1 on 9 hits at the OSF Healthcare Field in Peoria. Carterville is also the defending champions.

The Carterville Lions scored early, taking a two-run lead in the top of the first. 

North Boone closed the gap with scoring one run in the bottom of the second.

The Lions then scored another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Defense in the last two innings then sealed the game for the Lions.

Carterville will play on Saturday, June 7, at 4:30 p.m. against the winner between Beecher and Auburn.
