CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- Another Southern Illinois softball star has found her future home.

Carterville softball star Lacie Carr signs NLI to play for SIC

Carterville's Lacie Carr is staying in the 618 and will soon play at SIC in Harrisburg.

The rising senior has played a key role in the recent success of the Lions' softball program.

Lady Lions softball coach, Will Kappy, praised Carr today and touched on her intangibles during her signing ceremony.

At SIC, Carr will pitch, play first base, and bring her powerful bat to the Falcons lineup.

The Lions standout pitcher says she grew up and fell in love with the sport and will soon be ready to suit up for SIC.

"I'm really excited," said Carr. "I know our team is going to be really good next year. I know other girls who have signed, and I love the coach. A couple of months ago, I wasn't going to play college softball, and now I am. It just feels amazing."

Carr says she simply was not ready to let softball out of her life. She's been playing the game since she was 4 years old.
