Carterville Track & Field star Braden Wakey signs NLI to join Ohio State
Carterville's Braden Wakey put a dent in that statement.
The 4 spot athlete announced on Friday he is going to Ohio State for Track & Field.
This is major for our area. It's not every day that someone signs to a Big Ten school. The track & field standout wasted no time becoming the newest member of OSU.
Wakey says is proud of how his hard work has allowed him to become a Buckeye.
"I didn't know if I was going to be able to compete at the next level or not," said Wakey. "Everything kind of just flipped over on me in the past couple of weeks. Finally getting to a spot where I am comfortable and I feel I can go and compete at the next level was a massive weight lifted off my shoulders."
Though there was doubt for Wakey, he hopes to leave his competitors in the dust at Ohio State and is proud of how his hard work has allowed him to become a Buckeye.
Wakey has made it big time! We couldn't be more excited to see where he goes from here.Â
