EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WSIL) -- Â The University of Evansville has placed men's basketball Coach Walter McCarty on administrative leave pending an investigation into alleged violations of the University's Title IX policy.
In a statement Friday, the university said it had received reports about Coach McCarty's off-court behavior, including a recent incident that appeared to violate its Title IX policy.
The university said it takes reports about harassment or discrimination seriously and is committed to maintaining a safe environment for students, faculty and staff.
According to the university, a national law firm will conduct an investigation. A decision on McCarty's status will then be made based upon those results.
Bennie Seltzer will serve as interim head coach of the men's basketball team. Seltzer previously served as head coach of Samford University and held assistant coaching positions at the University of Oklahoma, Marquette University, Indiana University and Washington State University.
