CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- When most people think of twins they think of similarities.
That's not the case with Carbondale Community High School basketball players Davaris and Tavaris Macklin.
They've got different personalities, they don't look alike and they play completely different games.
"It's not like having a mirror," Carbondale Head Coach Jim Miller said.
"They both have different personalities. But I also think they feed off each other. They are very competitive and they challenge each other."
But on the court they play hard together.
"Its a good feeling. I know what he can do on the court and I know what I can do on the court," Tavaris said.
"We all got each others backs as a team and as brothers you know people are not going to mess with us that much," Davaris said.
Together they helped lead their team to a 1st place finish in their holiday tournament this past weekend.
" I love to get this far with my brother and our team for real," Tavaris said.
"Its a good feeling to play with him," Davaris said.
In the championship, the brothers combined to put up over half the teams total points. Head Coach Jim Miller says the two will be tough to replace next year.
"You don't really fill shoes like that you just have to figure out spots that need to be filled. Those two kids will be missed completely because of their competitiveness," Miller said.
After-all strong leadership isn't always easy to find.
"Its something that every team that's competing needs is that senior leadership and those two kids have really provided that for us."
After growing up and playing sports together their entire lives. The Macklin brothers will embark on a new journey next year. This one apart from one another.
"That will probably be like weird cause like I don't know who I'm going to be with in a dorm or something.Like we're just going to be separated," Davaris said.
"I knew I was going to be a football player and he knew he was going to be a basketball player and we wished the best of luck to each other," Tavaris said.
Davaris plans to continue his basketball career at the next level while Tavaris plans to pursue football. For now the two are all in for their last season of basketball together.
