GOREVILE (WSIL) On Tuesday, day two of the Goreville Invitational Tournament continued.
In the nite cap..Hardin County taking on host Goreville was just too much for Hardin County to handle. Blackcats wallop the Cougars 74-41.
Right from the start, Goreville showed they wanted to play at a fast tempo. As soon as the Blackcats grabbed the rebound, they quickly got the ball to the outside and pushed it up court. Evidence was spotted early on when Landon Albright crashed the boards, quickly found Kanon Webb and he dished it off to Nick Compton for a quick two.
Later in the first quarter the Blackcats displayed their speed with the ball, when Briley Dunn came up with a loose ball on the defensive end and within a blink of an eye, turned up court to convert a tough up and under move.
Albright led the Blackcats with 18 points.
Jake Vaughn led the way for the Cougars with 10 points. Vaughn converted a tough right handed take in the first quarter that was certainly highlight worthy.
Goreville faces faces Hamilton County Friday at 7 PM. Hardin County squares off with Johnston City Friday at 5:30 from Goreville.
