CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) -- The Carbondale High School football team surprised many in the region last season. Now, CCHS has a new group of players who plan to pick up where the seniors left off.
The Carbondale team has been gearing up for the new season in practice.
Let's introduce you to this year's squad.
Quarterback Brock Bowlby was a Murray State commit but is now a Racer.
The Terriers were 7-3 a season ago and won the South Seven Conference. Carbondale would fall in the first round of the playoffs to Hillcrest. This season, the team wants to prove they can go even deeper in the postseason.
The team's motto this season is "no emotion, just motion!" It's a motto that this team takes to heart and is one they will rely on during the highs and lows of the upcoming season.
"When something doesn't go your way, you don't get emotional about it; it's on to the next play," said Senior DeMarzion Graham. "You just go with the motion, go with the flow. We feel ready, we feel like hearts are pumping just to be honest with you."
Carbondale opens the year at home facing Murphysboro in the Jackson County Showdown.
