CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- A month ago, we didn't know if we'd have a high school basketball season in Illinois. Friday night, there were plenty of games to choose from so the WSIL sports team made their rounds. Local gyms are limited to 50 fans so we are your eyes and ears for games.
Carterville was able to outlast Herrin 36-34. This was a game of runs. Carterville led 19-2 after the first quarter. Second quarter, Herrin won the period outscoring Carterville 14-6. Haydon Mayer led Herrin with 12 points, and Carterville's Eli Downen had a game high 13 points.
