...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily Heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Massac County Softball in a championship state of mind

METROPOLIS (WSIL) -- Massac County Softball is in a championship state of mind.

Wednesday afternoon, they'll play two games in one day.

If everything goes according to plan, they'll be playing at 5 PM for a state title.

The Patriots left Tuesday afternoon for Peoria.

On Monday, they punched their ticket to Peoria with a 3-1 win over Freeburg.

Jenna Bunting was the hero in the Super Sectional with two runs batted in, including a solo HR in the sixth inning. That homerun blast turned out to be the difference in the game.

The Patriots hadn't been to the Super Sectionals since 1985 and here they are playing in a semifinal.
