...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

JACKSON/CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (WSIL) -- Jackson girls basketball knocked off Kennett 46-32 Monday night. Madison Lambert scored a third quarter basket to help build the Indians lead. Taleigh Harrrell chipped in with 8 points for Kennett.

"I felt like we played well defensively and we struggled a little shooting the basketball but when we played well dfeensively it allowed us to keep the lead that we built up early in the game," Jackson Girls Head Basketball Coach Tyler Abernathy said. "Their effort, their energy, we defend really well, we rebounded the ball really well so those are the things that we did the best."

Over in Cape Girardeau, Cape Central trampled over Arcadia 60-29. The Tigers Ellla Vogalwas tough to defend. She led Cape Central with 20 points.
