IHSA Football District proposal fails, High School football in Illinois to stay in current format

BLOOMINGTON, IL (WSIL) - The current High School football format as we know it will stay that way, at least for another year.

The news comes after a failed vote for teams to change the format to district play.

The results came out like this: 379-272-76

According to the IHSA this years voting process was the highest voting total in over a decade, as 89.2% of the membership participated in the vote.

If this vote would have passed, district play would have started this upcoming season.

Along with Proposal 18, proposal 11 also failed in voting. It would have changed the number of summer contact days from 25 down to 18 days. That vote failed with 407 schools against, 203 for the reduction, and 18 with no opinions.
