CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- SIU men's basketball delivered news fans have been dreading to hear all season.
Star guard Aaron Cook is sitting out the remainder of the season.
The senior played in just 6 games this season, averaging 15 points per game, which is good enough for the team lead.
Cook broke his hand November 19th at Murray State and will apply for a medical redshirt.
Here's where it can get risky. Cook is slated to graduate so if granted the medical redshirt he would have the option to leave and go somewhere else as a grad transfer and would be immediately eligible to play there next season.
And It's the last thing Saluki fans want to see.
So we asked Bryan Mullins if there is a concern AC could transfer.
"I don't think so. I've been meeting with AC weekly during these last few weeks just being on the same page with him," Mullins said.
"We've brought that up and he hasn't thought about it you know he likes it here. He's happy here and just wants to be healthy here and have a healthy senior year."
