SIU triumphs over Youngstown State after impressive comeback

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Salukis claim victory 37-33 on Saturday against Youngstown State after climbing back from a 28-point deficit.

The SIU Salukis (3-7, 1-5) beat Youngstown State (3-8, 2-5) at Saluki Stadium on November 9, after trailing 28-0 in the second quarter.

Youngstown State started scoring early, getting 14 points in the first quarter.

Another pair of touchdowns in the 2nd quarter for Youngstown brought the score to 28-0. This is when SIU started making their way back into the game.

A 4-play, 75-yard run got the Salukis on the board in the second quarter. Add another touchdown shortly after, and the Salukis were down 30-12 at the half.

A field goal for Youngstown is all they could get in the second half as the SIU defense shut them down. Meanwhile, another score from SIU in the third, bringing it to 33-18 Youngstown after three quarters.

The Salukis then exploded on the offensive end, getting a total of three touchdowns, the last of which came at just over a minute left in the game and sealing the victory for SIU.
