SEMO Running Back Geno Hess 60 yards away from 5,000 career rushing yards

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (WSIL) - Last week we shared how SEMO standout Running Back Geno Hess was closing in on 5000 rushing yards.
Hess entered Saturday game against (#21) UT-Martin just 58 yards shy of that record.
The problem was the senior finished that game with 8 carries for negative 2 yards.
Now he needs 60 yards to reach that milestone.
The Redhawks star is trying to become the first player in program history to reach 5000 rushing yards.
The AP All-American needs just 172 yards to reach the 1000 yard mark for the third straight year.
The Redhawks running back has 828 yards and 8 touchdowns so far. Last week Geno was bottled up and lost 2 yards on 8 carries.
Head coach Tom Matukewicz says his offense will do everything in its power to try and let the Hess Express take flight.
"We want to send Geno out with a good game also just our identity like at the end of the day we are like this program is like running the ball, doesn't mean its going to be 50-50 but to come out of this game with no rushing yards would be very disappointing."
The Redhawks end the season with a trip to Rhode Island to face Bryant University. Kickoff between the Redhawks and bulldogs is set for Noon on Saturday.
