.Scattered to numerous slow-moving thunderstorms will develop
through the day. These storms will produce torrential downpours
which will overwhelm drainage systems and small creeks, leading to
areas of flash flooding.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM CDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Areas of southern Illinois along and south of Highway 13
and all of western Kentucky.

* WHEN...From 10 AM CDT this morning through 12 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop across
southern Illinois and western Kentucky from late this morning
through late tonight. Areas that see thunderstorms could
receive 1.5 to 3.0 inches of rain in just one or two hours,
with locally higher amounts up to 4 inches possible.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

SIU holds spring practice at Du Quoin high school

DU QUOIN, IL (WSIL) - The SIU football team is now exactly two weeks away from its spring game. The Salukis got out of their own stadium today and spent the day on the field at Du Quoin High School. 

Head coach Nick Hill likes bringing his team back to his hometown � Hill is both a Du Quoin native and grad. 

The Salukis spent the day working at the home of the Indians for the first time in two years. The event was cancelled the past two seasons due to COVID-19.

The Spring is often highlighted by position battles, as everyone has a chance to impress the coaching staff while trying to earn a starting spot. 

SIU head coach Nick Hill says this is the time where each player grows the most.

The Spring game at Saluki Stadium is on April 16.
