...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Peak heat index values up to near 105.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may cause
heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Murphysboro students recognized for helping bass fishing team

Bass Fishing Team

(WSIL) -- Murphysboro High School students who saw a need for a bass fishing teamÌýshowed recognition for donating their summer earnings to help out.

Murphysboro High School juniors Sam Herring, Trey Gillespie, and Ethan Sunny learned about the needs of the school's Bass Fishing Team while working at Kinkaid Marina over the 2022 summer.

The three students set a goal to raise money, and the Marina matched their efforts. They presented a check for $1,000 to team president Tucker Horstmann.

Since donating, Ethan joined the team and won first at a Crab Orchard Tournament. Sam and Trey plan to join.
