1,000 flags displayed in Cape Girardeau, MO on Memorial Day
Thirteen new American Flags were added at the Avenue of Flags in Cape Girardeau this Memorial Day holiday. The new flags brought the number to now more than 1,000 displayed across Cape County Park. Each flag represents a Cape Girardeau County resident who has served their country and either died in the line of duty or post service. This started back on Memorial Day in 1987, when 80 casket flags were donated to VFW Post 3838 by the families of deceased service members. The VFW in Cape Girardeau states they fly these flags on dedicated holidays to make sure their service, sacrifice, and memory are not forgotten.
