December 23rd Evening Weather with Meteorologist Jacie Brianne
CARTERVILLE Ill. (WSIL) -- Scattered showers are ramping up across the region. Overall, rainfall is light with brief pockets of steady rain. It shouldn't cause too many headaches on the roads, but it will stick around overnight. Low temperatures will be fairly mild, only dipping into the low 40s by Tuesday morning.Â

The off and on showers, accompanied by warm temperatures are here to stay. The active and warm pattern will stick around through the entire week. Tuesday morning we should see plenty of dry time. The showers will be spotty and isolated to start, becoming more widespread during the late afternoon and evening. That light rain will continue into Christmas morning.
It will not be a washout when it comes to the rain. There will be dry time and rainfall will be light. Local travel issues are not anticipated but you may have to turn on the windshield wipers from time to time.
A break from the rain is expected Thursday but it will be brief. Another system will move in to end the week. This will bring more widespread and even a few rumbles of thunder Friday and Saturday.Â
Rainfall totals by the end of the week range between three quarters of inch north to an inch and a half south with isolated higher amounts.
Above average temperatures will make for a warm holiday and a warm end to the year. Highs Tuesday will hover in the upper 40s, followed by low 50s Christmas day. The warm-up continues through the end of the week, by Friday and Saturday highs will be near 60s degrees.
Looks like Santa may need an umbrella while delivering gifts! Happy Holidays!
