CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- A cool and breezy Thursday. In the wake of another big mid-spring storm system, winds have turned back to the northwest and cooler air has ushered in.

Winds may blow as high as 25 to 30 miles per hour, primarily from mid-morning through the early afternoon. As high pressure builds in this evening, winds will gradually get lighter.

Quite a bit of sunshine is also expected this afternoon, though fair weather cumulus clouds will be around, especially east of I-57 in Southeastern Illinois.

Skies will clear overnight tonight, but a chilly morning is expected Friday with temperatures in the lower 40s. As winds turn more towards the southwest, temperatures will bounce back into the 70s Friday afternoon.

Meteorologist Nick Hausen is tracking even warmer weather by the weekend on News 3 This Morning. We've got you covered!
