CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- Wet weather returns Wednesday with a round of showers and a few rumbles of thunder through much of the morning and early afternoon. Despite the rain, temperatures will be quite mild with late afternoon highs in the lower 60s.
The rain Wednesday is just the beginning of a very active pattern through the end of the week.
Another round of showers and storms is expected first thing Thursday morning. A few of the storms could be on the strong side with small hail and thunder and lightning. A lull in the storms is then expected through much of the afternoon.
Our attention then turns to the potential for severe storms Thursday evening. There's still a fair amount of uncertainty on how the severe risk will play out, but it does appear there will be a lot of wind shear and enough instability to support the threat.
