18 new COVID-19 cases in Franklin, Williamson counties

MARION (WSIL) -- Health departments across southern Illinois continue to report new cases of COVID-19.

On Wednesday, the Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department announced 18 new cases for its region.

Jackson County Health Department also had a double-digit increase, with 15 new cases reported there.

On Wednesday, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced 1,393 new cases of COVID-19, including 18 additional confirmed deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 175,124 cases, including 7,462 deaths, in Illinois.

FRANKLIN COUNTY

  • Females: One in their 20s
  • Males: Two in their 50s

Franklin County has had 112 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of the positive cases, health officials say 59 have recovered.

JACKSON COUNTY

  • Females: Five in their 20s, one in her 30s, and one in her 40s
  • Males: One preteen, three in their 20s, two in their 30s, and two in their 40s

Fifteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Jackson County Wednesday. To date, there have been 573 confirmed cases in the county, including 19 related deaths.

Jackson County Health Department says, of the cases reported in its county in July, nearly 70% have been individuals in their teens and twenties.

The department has issued a "public health alert" to raise awareness in young adults.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

  • Females: One in her 20s, two in their 50s, one in her 60s and two in their 70s
  • Males: One in his 70s

The Jefferson County Health Department says several of the new positive cases in the county this week have been traced back to a local church service held last week.

"The congregation has been notified and asked to quarantine and be tested," read a post on the department's .

According to the health department, one of the new cases Wednesday is currently hospitalized, and one is a long term care resident. The others are isolating at home.

Jefferson County has had 184 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 14 deaths. Currently, 35 cases are active.

PERRY COUNTY

  • Females: One in her 30s and one in her 60s
  • Males: One in his 40s and one in his 70s

There have been 96 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including one death, in Perry County. The health department says one previous confirmed case was removed from the total because the person was a resident of a different county. Currently, there are 25 active cases.

SALINE COUNTY

  • Males: One in his 40s and one in his 70s

To date, Egyptian Health Department has confirmed 87 cases of COVID-19, including one death, in Saline County.

UNION COUNTY

  • Females: Two in their 40s
  • Males: One in his 50s

According to Southern Seven Health Department, Union County has had 266 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 18 related deaths. As of Wednesday, 86 cases were active.

WAYNE COUNTY

  • One male in his 20s

There have been 34 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including one death, in Wayne County. Seven people are currently isolating at home.

WHITE COUNTY

  • One female in her 80s

Health officials say the woman is at home in isolation. White County has had 54 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY

  • Females: One teenager, one in their 20s, two in their 30s, two in their 40s, one in their 50s and one in their 70s
  • Males: Two teenagers, one in their 20s, one in their 30s, one in their 40s and two in their 50s

Fifteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Williamson County on Wednesday. To date, there have been 289 confirmed cases in the county, including five deaths.

Of the positive cases, 175 individuals have recovered.
