...Cold air funnels will be possible...

Cold air funnels are expected today. These cold air funnels are
developing underneath a few showers that are moving across the
area. Underneath these showers...spinning columns of air that look
like tornadoes may continue to develop. These funnels usually are
very brief and rarely touch the ground. If these funnels do touch
down...they most likely will not cause damage to life or
property.

Cold air funnels are due to very cool air aloft...warm moist air
near the ground...and are usually in association with a strong
area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Due to
little or no wind shear...they are usually weak and very brief.

(WSIL) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 26,062 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19, including 197 additional deaths since reporting last Friday, September 3, 2021.

As of Thursday night, 2,346 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19.  Of those, 549 patients were in the ICU and 311 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators. 

More than 79% of Illinois adults have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and more than 62% of Illinois adults are fully vaccinated, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Of Illinois� total population, more than 66% has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and more than 51% of Illinois� total population is fully vaccinated.

Since reporting on Friday, September 3, 2021, 143,596 doses were reported administered in Illinois. 

Last week, more than 30,000 cases were reported.

According to the CDC, only one county, Whiteside County, is considered at substantial risk for transmitting COVID-19. Every other county is listed at High Risk of Transmission.
