...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON CDT /1 PM EDT/ SATURDAY
TO 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values 100 to 109 expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ Saturday to 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Big Muddy Monster Brew Fest canceled

MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) � The 2020 Big Muddy Monster Brew Fest has been canceled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Friends of Murphysboro, a not-for-profit group of volunteers, made the announcement Thursday.

"Planning for the Fest starts early each year and includes working with local sponsors and breweries. Many of those sponsors are small businesses that are, as many of us, struggling right now. Our board of directors weighed the options and concluded that even if current restrictions are lifted by the fall, there simply wouldn’t be an adequate amount of time to host an event the caliber of the previous ten Brew Fests," said a statement from the group.

Organizers say Big Muddy Monster Brew Fest will return to Murphysboro's Riverside Park in 2021.

Proceeds from previous Brew Fests helped fund the Fred Cook Memorial Splash Pad in Murphysboro.
