ROCKFORD (WREX) On Wednesday, .
The "American Rescue Plan" includes money for schools, state and local governments, and direct payments to most Americans.
President Biden has promised to sign the bill right away, triggering the release of relief checks for millions of Americans.
But this time around, what you qualify for is a bit more complicated. What you're eligible for depends on the adjusted gross income reported in your last tax return, either for 2019 or 2020.
Single tax return filers whose adjusted gross income is up to $75,000 are eligible for the full $1,400 check.
If you're a head of household and that number is at $112,500, you also qualify for the full amount.
A couple who filed joint tax returns with an adjusted gross income at $150,000 would get $2,800.
In this relief package, those who meet the income requirements would also get $1,400 per eligible dependent, including older children and adult dependents.
People who earn slightly more than this are still eligible for some relief money, but not the full amounts.
Single tax filers whose adjusted gross income was $80,000 or more, heads of households who earned $120,000 or more, and join filers who earned $160,000 or more don't get anything.
