HARRISBURG (WSIL) -- Two local health care officials took time to honor those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic with a song.

Harrisburg Medical Center CEO Don Hutson and accountant Blake Mathis posted a video singing "Waiting On the World to Change" by John Mayer.

They say the words of the song signify the message they wanted to send to the healthcare professionals at the hospital, to remind them that we are all supporting them.

The duo also said it's a great way to celebrate hospital week, which begins May 10.

Hutson says he wanted to share this message of hope with the community.

"A lot of what's going on with the pandemic are out of our span of control. They're out of our sphere of influence. But we can control how we react to it, and so that was sort of the positive vibe that we wanted to build into the video as we sent it out to our staff and later the community," said Hutson.

Huston went on to say that the outpouring of support for hospital staff from the community has been truly overwhelming.
